Clan Wolverine’s Annihilation |
| Nicholas Kerensky's new society, with its formalized rules of combat was not completely accepted by all his followers. Clan Wolverine was among the most vocal critics of Nicholas Kerensky's authoritarian rule over the Clans. In 2823, Clan Wolverine rejected a Grand Council decision on the division of equipment found in a Brian Cache in Wolverine territory, claiming that the cache belonged to Clan Wolverine alone. They invoked a Trial of Refusal and lost. They did not accept the ruling, and shocked the rest of the Clans by declaring Clan Wolverine totally independent. ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky declared that Clan Wolverine had become "tainted by the old ways of lust for power." He urged the Grand Council to vote for a Trial of Annihilation against the rebellious Clan. The resulting vote was swift and unanimous - Annihilation. Official Clan histories state that they were annihilated for espousing anti-Clan sentiments, such as democracy and independence, but the reality is somewhat different. Many Clans were suffering internal strife at the time of the Clan Wolverine incident, and Nicholas saw that the Clans on a whole were on the brink of rebelling against his authority. The Wolverines served as both object lesson and common enemy against whom the other nineteen Clans could unite. Clans Wolf and Widowmaker won the honor of annihilating Wolverine.
Wolf and Widowmaker took the opportunity of the Trial of Annihilation to expand their prestige, each at the cost of the other. The long-time rivalry between these two Clans was fierce and bitter. The bidding between the two Clans for the honor of destroying Clan Wolverine turned the bitterness into hatred. The Clan Wolf version of The Remembrance states that Clan Widowmaker deliberately drove the bidding down to dangerous levels, then withdrew, leaving the warriors of Clan Wolf facing the majority of Clan Wolverine at very poor odds. Clan Widowmaker was pleased when Clan Wolf suffered major losses in the battle, but their hatred was fanned higher by Clan Wolf's eventual triumph over Clan Wolverine. The warriors of Clan Wolverine were dead, and the Grand Council moved to purge its tainted ways from Clan society. The Wolverine Bloodnames were eliminated from the gene pool, all Wolverine lower-caste citizens were sterilized, and all mention of Clan Wolverine was removed from Clan documents. However, a later investigation strongly suggested that some individuals, predominantly civilians and second-line troops, had been able to flee. Officially put down to bad book-keeping, the whereabouts and disposition of any survivors remained unknown. Rumors among the Clans say that some Clan Wolverine warriors escaped and fled the Clan worlds. It is probably no coincidence that the "Minnesota Tribe" that attacked the perimeter of the Combine struck in 2825, a year after the annihilation of Clan Wolverine. This tribe was reported as using brand-new 'Mechs, fighting in ways that were alien to the Inner Sphere. Compiled From http://www.kerensky.tierranet.com/btech/btech.shtml Minnesota TribeIn 2825, as the Second Succession War was just getting under way, a regiment of unidentified 'Mechs appeared in the Draconis Combine. From a convoy of transports and DropShips, the regiment struck at the garrison on Svelvik, seizing supplies and then leaving. People were quick to notice that the 'Mechs were in excellent condition and painted according to Regular Army Standards. The regiment fought using Regular Army tactics, and wounded or stranded Mechwarriors killed themselves rather than be captured. There was a small symbol on each 'Mech that was later identified as a map of Minnesota, a geopolitical domain of North America. The leaders of the Draconis Combine did not need further proof to be convinced that the Minnesota Tribe, as the regiment came to be known, was the vanguard of an SLDF attack. The Minnesota Tribe attacked three more worlds. During its last attack, its Mechwarriors freed thousands of political prisoners on the Combine world of Richmond. The Minnesota Tribe then left the Draconis Combine and was never seen again. In the wake of the Clan invasion of the Inner Sphere it is generally believed that the Minnesota Tribe was in fact the remnants of Clan Wolverine fleeing the Trial of Annihilation. Although the current location of the Minnesota Tribe is not known, some believe the incident known as "The Tripitz Affair" is linked with them. No evidence is likely to confirm a connection between the two though, largely because of the extensive mixing of fact and fiction involving "The Tripitz Affair", and the story of the Vandenburg White Wings. If the two are linked, that would roughly put the Tribe traveling on the outskirts of the Inner Sphere, opposite that of the Clan Invasion Corridor. The following are the accounts that make up the incidents involving the Minnesota Tribe/Clan Wolverine: Draconis CombineThe Minnesota Tribe and the Chahar Profit In late 2825, the Minnesota Tribe made its first appearance in the Draconis Combine with a raid on the world of Svelvik. This previously unknown 'Mech unit of nearly regimental strength showed considerable skill in beating the planet's meager garrison troops. Refusing any communications, they simply took what they needed, and then left Svelvik without further bloodshed. What intrigued Jinjiro most in the reports of this unknown unit were that their impeccably maintained 'Mechs were freshly painted in Regular Army colors. It was Zabu who first noticed that the regimental patch was an outline of Minnesota, a geo-political domain in the North American region of Terra. What Jinjiro also learned from reports was that the regiment was apparently escorting a fleet of cargo, commercial, and liner Jumpships. This fleet, with their escorts, apparently had some definite destination and was using uninhabited star systems to reach it at a steady pace. The mystery group, by now known as the Minnesota Tribe, next attacked Trondheim. Because it was a prefecture capital, the 20th Rasalhague Regulars were stationed there. The ensueing battle was striking in the way that the mystery 'Mechs dealt with the Kurita 'Mechs using strict Regular Army formations and tactics. Once again, the mystery group refused all attempts at communication, to the point that pilots of destroyed Tribe 'Mechs killed themselves in order to avoid capture. The mystery fleet then jumped from the system, apparently headed for some uninhabited star system near Trondheim. By now, the Kuritans believed that the Minnesota Tribe had to be a Regular Army unit, though they were not listed in any Regular Army order of battle. The possibility that the Minnesota Tribe might be an advance scout group raised the specter of the return of a very angry General Kerensky or his successor. This made Jinjiro decidedly nervous. With much trepidation, he ordered the Rasalhague and Pesht districts to the highest state of alert. He also moved troops within these districts forward to the Periphery borders. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Tribe struck Jarett, again taking what they needed before moving on. This time the Tribe thwarted efforts to stop them when a large group of their AeroSpace Fighters intercepted and kept two battalions of Kurita 'Mechs out of the battle. While House Kurita's attention was turned toward the Minnesota Tribe, the Lyran Commonwealth military took the Combine completely by surprise with a lightening fast raid on the Draconis Combine. What prompted the raid was the Combine's earlier capture of the Commonwealth freighter named the Chahar Profit. A grain ship destined for the starving population of the Steiner world of Chandler, the ship made a miss-jump that put it above Darius and under the guns of Kurita fighters. To win back the freighter and to rescue its crew, Archon Marcus of the Lyran Commonwealth brought together the remaining members of the famed Stealth 'Mech regiment. With all of house Kurita's attention diverted toward the Periphery, the Stealth rescue mission worked like a charm, much to the embarrassment of the DCMS. The Minnesota Tribe made one last attack against an inhabited Kurita world. About a week after the Steiner forces succeeded in rescuing the Chahar Profit, the Minnesota Tribe regiment hit the Kurita world of Richmond with a vengeance. Though it was inconceivable that the Tribe could have known about the large prison and slave camps on the planet, their 'Mechs went straight for them. After easily overpowering the guards, they were soon freeing the many thousands of prisoners. Several DropShips then landed in the midst of the prison complexes to load up and transport all the freed prisoners off world before the Kurita 'Mechs could arrive on the scene. Though no one realized it for quite awhile, the liberation of the prisoners and "Unproductive" on Richmond was the last time that the Minnesota Tribe was seen in the Inner Sphere. Both the Minnesota Tribe and the debacle of the Chahar Profit rescue took a heavy toll on the Kuritans' ability to control the thinking of their people. Though the government did its best to suppress accounts of the Minnesota Tribe, stories did spread, particularly through the lower classes. Like a vision of avenging angels, the Tribe had swept down to free political prisoners and members of the lower class. The fact that everyone believed they were a Regular Army unit only added to their aura of offering divine assistance to the righteous and the poor. These stories soon combined with accounts of the Commonwealth's rescue of the Chahar Profit. Like a slow virus, the dogma that the Draconis Combine was destined to rule the Inner Sphere began to show signs of erosion from within. ComstarPrimus Toyama seemed to hold the Inner Sphere firmly in his grasp when a threat to his dreams suddenly appeared from beyond the Periphery. The attack of the Minnesota Tribe on the Combine worlds of Svelvika and Trondheim in 2825 shook ComStar as much as the Draconis Combine. Proceedings of the First Circuit indicate that Toyama believed the attack was the vanguard of Kerensky's return with the Star League Army, a belief supported by reports that this unknown military unit possessed brand-new Battlemechs and used combat tactics similar to those of the SLDF. If the self-exiled Star League troops had returned, it would spell an end to the prophesy of Blake and the future of ComStar. The First Circuit responded by dispatching a dozen diplomatic envoy vessels to the Periphery area surrounding the Combine. These ships were charged with the mission of establishing and opening diplomatic relations with the mysterious Minnesota Tribe. For four months the Jumpships scoured the stars searching for some trace of the unit. They were able to follow the trail of the mysterious attackers into the deep Periphery toward the Federated Suns, but then all trace seemed to disappear near Valentina. Subsequent investigations by ROM failed to uncover further information on the attackers. Who Were Those Masked Men?Our operatives on Richmond managed to penetrate the Combine's investigation team studying the attacks by the so-called Minnesota Tribe. The only concrete evidence recovered thus far has been the body of one of the Mechwarriors of the Tribe. The pilot was using a Lancelot BattleMech of exceptionally high quality. Of great interest was the MechWarrior's uniform. The coolant suit was an enhanced version of an SLDF prototype that had yet to reach production when Kerensky's Exodus jumped from the Inner Sphere. Naturally, our agent sabotaged the suit so that its design would not fall into Combine hands. Though the warrior carried no personal effects, his suit displayed two interesting patches. One was the outline of the former North American state of Minnesota, with the numbers "331" faintly stitched on it. Our archives indicate that the number and the symbol are similar to those used by the SLDF's 331st Royal BattleMech Division (The North American Division) that left the Inner Sphere with General Kerensky. The resemblance is strong but the symbols are not identical, indicating that the patch was new rather than an old one reworked. The second patch was also revealing. It depicted a terran wolverine, white in color, with bloodied fangs. Our searches have revealed no correlation or connection to the designation of any known military unit meaning that it is a new or reorganized unit. We conclude that this unit is indeed a surviving element of Kerensky's Exodus. Though we cannot substantiate this with physical evidence, the above items recovered point to a strong connection with the Exodus Fleet. It can also be assumed that this unit has an existing technological and manufacturing base. Unfortunately, it has been impossible to determine either the current location or the destination of these raiders. - From a summary report to the First Circuit by ROM Preceptor Emilio Travis, Minnesota Tribe Investigations, Archive File 222-802, ComStar Archives |
Clan Wolverine/Minnesota Tribe History Following Annihilation |
| - Written by Galaxy Commander Martyr Kerensky
*2833-1 planet colonized-Defiance* “We arrived in the year 2833 on the planet code-named Defiance. In the months previous to finding this planet we had sent out an infinite number of probes in a desperate search to find an inhabitable planet for ourselves. Half-starving and depressed we embarked for the planets surface. All 30,000 of us in various dropships and jumpships hoped that this would be the gleaming jewel of our existence. It had water and mammals. It consisted of a nitrogen/oxygen-based atmosphere similar to that of earth. Yet of all these things the most important resource it contained was water. We had code-named it Defiance as a symbol of our resistance and our self-preservation. We were defying death again, and defying human-kind, both Clan and Inner Sphere.” - From The History- Galaxy Commander Martyr Kerensky “We are a clan of survivors. We do not cower at problems. We have the ability to deal with anything defying us.”-saKhan Justin Case Rynul World Name: Defiance Star Type: G2V Position in system: 3rd Time To Nearest Civilization: 5 years x 30 light year jumps – recharging times for jumps in a linear line. The main planet is settled in a land-owner based form. All families and civilians are employed in the basic art of farming. Population growth is already moving at an extreme rate. Food and supplies are more than adequate. The two moons orbiting Defiance have been carved into our main bases of operation. One is for sanctuary in time of war; the other is our command center. Honeycombed with vast underground factory complexes invulnerable to all but the most costly man-to-man actions, the full-scale conquest of the moons is highly unlikely. Two other planets in nearby star systems have also been discovered habitable. One is extremely mineral rich while the other has one small main continent, and with the rest of the world submerged in water, it has yet to be explored. Colonization will begin in at least 2 decades of both of the planets. The mineral rich planet will be exploited far before that time though. We have the technology level slightly higher than that of the Star League. Mech. Factories and other production facilities have been pre-planned by our Administrator of War. The strict policies of the clan ways have already worn progressively in the flight from clan space to this world. We now award bloodnames on account of honor and skill, not lineage. We do not have castes either. For now everyone is serving in the same capacity as one another; to survive and multiply. |
2833 - 3000 AD - 3 Planets Heavily Developed - Defiance*, Masterson, Terran |
| World Name: Defiance
Star Type: G2V Position in system: 3rd Time To Nearest Civilization: 5 years x 30 light year jumps – recharging times for jumps in a linear line. Population: 217,600 Percent of Native Life: 69%; Mammal/Plant 3000 AD - The planet has a beautiful city named Corsica; it serves as both the capitol of Clan Wolverine and the planet. The Grand Hall of Wolverine stands as a backdrop to an immense courtyard, empty in the winter seasons when its landscaped waters freeze. In the Hot season the water thaws and gives way to breathtaking oranges and shades of red cast on the water by an overbearing sun that seems to try and make up for the harsh winter each year. The harvesting season last 3 months and yields produce that feeds all 3 planets and the growing population. In the low and high extremes there are large mech. production facilities built from the minerals mined from Masterson. The factory in the north produces both the Awesome IIw and the Battlemaster in underground facilities protected by a regiment of Lethal Claw Galaxy. Other production facilities surround the main site and produce various Star League Era and higher tech parts and supplies for these mechs. In the south 5 different battlemechs are produced. They are guarded by another regiment of Lethal Claw Galaxy and they are under the same protective ground that the northern facilities are. The heaviest mech. produced by SouthCo. is the Thor. The Thor can be easily modified to any of its alternative configurations right after it is finished. The pod systems are not mounted for this particular mech. until after the mech. itself is complete. This is especially useful because the variety of different terrain on the 3 worlds exceeds the capabilities of other mechs equal to the Thor. Slightly lighter, yet just as deadly is the Vulture, which can be modified to any of its configurations as well. The Shadowcat production facility is functioning, yet problems in supplies and manpower hamper its production. Two light and fast scout mechs were developed soon after the Clan saw the need for a more powerful, faster, and more reliable scout mech. than the Jenner and Raven. Produced in 2870, the Youngblood Light Assault Mech. optimizes the speed of the Jenner and electronics of the Raven mixing all of that with armor and weapons layouts that are stunning for such a small mech. The 40 ton version opts to replace one arm with a LRM 20 rack mount, one ER PPC in the other arm, and 2 pulse lasers, at the speed of 105 kph and carrying 8 tons of armor. The lightest mech. produced by SouthCo. is the Marshal. Cleverly named because of its Angel EMC suit it has the ability to electronically track anything within its radar range, even if the enemy mech. is shutdown and hiding behind terrain in cold water. Its C3 computer links it to the entire battlefield, which greatly enhances any Trinaries capability to devastate an enemy. No vehicles are produced in keeping with the Clan tradition. The civilian population lives mostly in the two major cities, New Circe and Corsica. The rural population is very large and the farming class in Wolverine society is highly respected. The main body of Lethal Claw Galaxy has its home here. With its two highly-trained regiments guarding the mech. factories south and north. Storm Ravens Galaxy also has its main regiment stationed here, protecting the city of New Circe, and the third regiment stationed planet-wide. Demon Knights Galaxy protects the capitol city with 3 full regiments, while the fourth regiment is stationed off world protecting the city of Freehaven on Terran. Crimson Guard is stationed on the moons of all 3 planets. Its mission is to protect not only the Khans, but also the people of Clan Wolverine. World Name: Terran Star Type: G0III Position in System: 4th Time to Jump Point: 2 days Population: 108,000 Percent of Native Life: 95%; Amphibian This world has a variety of water-bodies covering it. Two large oceans take up 89% of the planet. Two large rivers run through the one continent and smother another 1.5% of the planet. The one continent starts at the planets 70-degree latitude line. It forms a teardrop shape that extends to a southern tip along the 20-degree latitude line. At the northern edge, mountains form and give the surrounding cold landscape an ominous feeling. Permanent ice sheets and glaciers are attached to the mountains on the coast of the Northern Sea. Just above these sheets, somewhere deep in the mountains is the Wolverine command base. Not much is known about this base other than that if an enemy tried to conquer it, even the most perfect fighting method would take three months to overcome its immense defenses. Twenty-thousand assorted mechwarriors, techs, and infantry are stationed there. Also just outside the northern range is a Wolverine mechwarrior training base. Its academy facilities are pre-planned to train an entire generation in the art of war, although for now only 25% of its grounds have been built. Later expansion will come when the population and need rise. At the southern scoop of the teardrop lies an immense city. After the establishment of the military base on Terran, the planet was opened to free colonization. Freehaven was settled in the year 2950 as a premier fishing community. Farming also was well established and many small communities of 1,000 people or so dot the coastline. Yet the biggest city, Freehaven, holds 90,000 people and is surrounded on three sides by ocean and another side by one of the major rivers with only a narrow land mass joining it to the mainland. The peninsula is largely still unsettled and has the potential to house up to 7,000,000 people. The cities main source of economy currently is its fishing industry, which brings in millions of pounds of fish each year. This coupled with the farming has given the tremendous growth in population an even larger boost. “Picture a city surrounded on three sides by on ocean, with the other side protected by a narrow land mass and a battalion of perfectly painted mechs, when the sun sets in the afternoon the city is lighted with a glow of blue and white, and the symbol of Clan Wolverine burns bright red off the majestic capitol building, and in the morning, the gold and blue of the ocean fleet can be seen sailing away in the tropical climate and you have Freehaven” - Galaxy Commander Martyr Kerensky World Name: Masterson Star Type: F4V Position in System: 3rd Time to Nearest Civilization: 2 Days Population: 20,000 Percent of Native Life: 10%; Mammal This planet was settled so soon because of its mineral richness. It is solely used for Clan Wolverine’s military machine. A rotational regiment of Lethal Claw Galaxy protects it. Most of the planets crust is covered in silver deposits, with some gem mines here and there. Many other raw materials can be found on the planet also. Yet Masterson is prone to very violent storms that cover the entire planet seasonally. Only the stationed mining operation and regiment on the planet are equipped to withstand the storms during the worst seasons. That is why no colonization has yet taken place. |
3000 AD - 3062 AD - 7 Planets Developed - Defiance*, Masterson, Terran, Orestes, Milan V, Hallis, and Outpost XI |
| World Name: Defiance
Star Type: G2V Position in System: 3rd Time to Nearest Civilization: 5 years x 30 light year jumps – recharging times for jumps in a linear line. Population: 2,776,000 Capital City: Corsica ~ pop. - 1,490,800 Percent of Native Life: 50%; Mammal/Plant Orbital shipyard constructed with spaceports in all of the major cities. Defiance has endured grueling years of its citizens leaving for other worlds and its administrative years as Clan Wolverine’s homeworld. Yet despite massive immigration from it Defiance has still grown to be the center of Wolverine’s population. So far most of the world remains unchanged by the presence of people. Corsica and other major cities house the majority of the population. The spaceports in Corsica and nearby New Circe serve an excess of 50,000 people per day. Most of the space travel is done between Defiance and its two moons. The largest project constructed since our arrival has its home next to Defiance. The Orbital Shipyard was completed in 3052 after 40 years of construction and is expected to produce one jumpship every two years during its operational lifetime. Its completion marked just one of the symbols of rising Wolverine power, and in just eight short years Clan Wolverine would put its frontline warriors to the test once again after more than 150 years of laying dormant. World Name: Terran Star Type: G0III Position in System: 4th Time to Jump Point: 0 days Population: 868,600 Capital City: Freehaven Population - 176,000 Percent of Native Life: 85%; Amphibian Over the past 120 years the population has exploded on Terran. Aside from its large fishing fleets and handsome ocean villages, it also has a certain hospitable atmosphere that welcomes a long quiet life. Although still hidden from the everyday life, the Wolverine command base has steadily grown over the years. By 3060 it doubled its original size. Many of the once small communities along the coast have expanded, adding to the already tremendous rate of growth in population for this planet. Freehaven now contains approximately 176,000 persons, as well as a large spaceport on the northern edge of its peninsula. The port was built in 3034 to serve the planet and the large number of tourists frustrated with making combat condition type drops into nothing more than a clear space next to the city. Since the spaceport became operational, Freehaven has become one of the premier vacationing spots in all of Wolverine Territory. World Name: Masterson Star Type: F4V Position in System: 3rd Time to Nearest Civilization: 2 Days Population: 40,000 Capital City: Desolate Ridge Population - 35,000 Percent of Native Life: 6%; Insect Masterson has remained solely an industrial mining colony since it was first settled. No colonization will take place on this planet because of its harsh environment consisting of freezing winds and noxious metals. However the planet serves a vital role to the Clan as a whole. The materials that are mined from it have made up most of the materials for the new factories, buildings, and cities on the worlds of Clan Wolverine. A regiment strength binary of Lethal Claw Galaxy is stationed here on a round-the-clock basis. World Name: Orestes Star Type: G3V Position in System: 3rd Time to Nearest Civilization: 6 days Population: 776,000 Capital City: Arc of Oasis Population - 430,823 Percent of Native Life: 90%; Plant “The lonely traveler, perhaps a deserter or lost soul stumbles across a water parched stretch of desert. Climbing over a hill covered in sand he beholds before him the unnerving site of a prodigious glass dome, which covers the entire city below it. Through the city runs the river, the only river on this desolate planet, which is fed by seasonal melts of the northern icecaps. Its welcoming doors sheathed in battle armor open when the scout mechs patrolling the perimeter pick him up. They carry him into the sanctuary amidst the desert, the city called Arc Oasis” This planets harshly punished environment has endured ages of lost atmospheric pressure. We are not sure why it steadily lost its atmosphere in the past decades; one theory is that an asteroid carrying toxic anti-ozone layer gasses crashed into the planet 450 years ago. The large lake that Arc Oasis is built around supports this theory. The lake seems to form in a crater shape on which the main part of the city itself is built. The one river that runs through the continent is settled by many small groups, and is farmed much like the Nile of Egypt on Terra. At the southern most tip of the river the lake and city of Arc Oasis are found. This is approximately on the 34-degree north latitude line. This “Oasis” was first settled around the earlier part of the year 3005, the dome covering it was built around 3025, and the defense placements were installed no later than 3030. The planet itself has a large underground mech. experimental complex near Arc Oasis and is defended by the 4th Regimental Strength Trinary of Lethal Claw Galaxy. World Name: Milan IV Star Type: G3V Position in System: 4th Time to Nearest Civilization: 2 days Population: 280,900 Capital City: Croesus Population - 70,209 Percent of Native Life: 86%; Aquatic Milan was settled in early 3001 by an expeditious wealthy family serving Clan Wolverine that sought to develop its vast waterways into a center of farming and culture. Khan Skyecat McEvedy granted the Milan family privileges to start building a capitol city on the planet in 3002. This was partly due to the fact that the Clan Leaders were more interested in setting up plans to settle the planet Hallis, which was closer to home (see “Hallis”). Supervising the families activities on the planet is a regimental strength trinary of Storm Ravens Galaxy. World Name: Hallis Star Type: G3V Position in System: 3rd Time to Nearest Civilization: 6 days Population: 676,000 Capital City: Hallis City Population - 66,000 Percent of Native Life: 95%; Plant Hallis gets its name from one of our most honored warriors, saKhan Hallis, who was instrumental in buying our ships time to escape Clan space during the Second Exodus. Full of green plants and jungles, this world was discovered in late 2998 after an exploratory probe landed on its surface. The rolling hills and jungles of this planet provided the motivation behind most of its colonization. Most interestingly, the Khan of Wolverine announced in 3001 that he would allow each Galaxy Commander to supervise the settlements of the three major continents of that world (See “Continents”). Shikata Ga Nai became the capitol after a fierce rivalry between Lethal Claw and Demon Knights (See “Capitol Battle”). Currently each continent holds each Galaxy's home base of operations. There is at least one mech. production factory and research facility on each continent in each of the three largest cities: Shikata Ga Nai (Capital) ~ 66,000; Covenant (Demon Knights) ~ 196,000; Raven Springs (Storm Ravens) ~ 125,000; and Olmec (Lethal Claw)~ 201,900. The planet itself is extremely mineral rich along its continental shelves, and the plant life inhabiting the entire surface, except the north and south poles, almost creates a permanent mixture of forests and jungles broken only by vast oceans. Continents:The largest continent was named after the late Khan Sarah McEvedy. The continent of Sarah was apportioned to Lethal Claw Galaxy. Sarah contains a large forested plain, which gives way only to a river running through it and an ocean surrounding it. The city of Olmec is located where the forest and river and many of its tributaries, meet the ocean. “Seeming to float in the air, the city of Olmec emerges out of the morning fog. Half of Olmec functions using canals and aqueducts. Gliding down the inter-city streams, a person can find themselves mesmerized by the majestic artwork of the foundations the city stands on. On the seaward side of North Olmec is the city's proud port that holds a colorful array of fishing ships and naval vessels. In the summer, floods trap much of the citizens inside, while the mosquitoes surrounding the city keep even the best swimmers at bay. It is a common challenge for young boys to join the Summer Society. Any petitioning member must stay one full day outdoors during the single month of summer to join; resulting in many that are rushed to the medical wards within hours of exposure. Four prodigious bridges connect North Olmec to its other half to the south. South Olmec is growing at a rapid pace because most of Northern Olmec is already reaching its population limit. Southern Olmec cuts right into the heart of the woods surrounding it. On a small plateau near the center of South Olmec is the cities spaceport. Around the spaceport the city branches hurriedly into a semi-circular shape. Each year as the city grows, the semi-circle gains ground on the woods. It is one of the most breathtaking cities in all of Clan Wolverine.” - Galaxy Commander Martyr Kerensky The continent named Greenland is the second largest continent and was apportioned to Storm Ravens Galaxy. It is almost entirely flat. Most of the mainland rests on a large plateau that runs the length and width of the continent. Lush jungles spread over the plateau and spill over into the many canyons. Century old rivers cut these deep canyons into the plateau. In the meeting place of two such rivers is the capitol city of Storm Ravens, Stadt der Ehre, also known more simply as Herrine City. “Remote yet magnificent is the city of Stadt der Ehre. Most of the city sits in a valley that was formed many years ago by the two rivers running through it. Four waterfalls fall almost symmetrically with one another in the northern part of the city, creating an impressive image that provides the backdrop for the northern part of the city. In the center rests Conner Lake. The main part of the city surrounds this lake and even rests within it. The climate and technology levels attract many retired members of Wolverine Society, including most senior warriors. Mostly because of that fact, a museum was built into the hillside behind two waterfalls in 3030. It rests quietly behind the leftmost two waterfalls, Daniff Cliffs and Collin Falls. In it rests many old battlemechs and sometimes the commanders of those battlemechs as well. Shading the large military complex are the two waterfalls on the right, Victor Falls and Stark Falls. The complex is woven into the hillside which surrounds all of Stadt der Ehre making this city both impressive and formidable.” - Galaxy Commander Martyr Kerensky The archipelago chain called Wai'anapanapa or Napa for short was apportioned to Demon Knights Galaxy. The chain consists of hundreds of islands and coral reefs that not only give it a sense of beauty but also gives a thriving natural resources business a home (Kona). Tropical vegetation covers most of the islands. On a smaller southeastern island lays Covenant, Capitol of Demon Knights Galaxy. “Outlines of Covenant, cast in hues of blue from the oceans salty surface, become clearer as the traveler draws closer, riding on one of the many rail lines connecting it to the spaceport. The island of Kona, on which Covenant was originally founded, is surrounded on one half of its coastline by immense coral reefs. Four other large islands and twenty smaller islands form most of the archipelago. The western-most large island is the home of one of the Clans most prestigious tournament facilities that hosts an annual championship each year for one versus one Mech battles. Climate on the island is very inviting for tourists and vacationers. Retirement in Covenant is definitely a possibility, however the hustle of daily life discourages it. The fishing fleet is fairly average for a city of its size and most of the industry comes from mining operations on two separate large islands to the north. In the center of the main island, on top of a nearly flat, long and wide mountain, rests the houses of the three veteran stars in Demon Knights Galaxy. In the center of these buildings there is a large structure covered in ivy with small waterfalls running down its side, this encases the Demon Knight’s genetic vat. Government buildings that supervise the city and Demon Knights other territories are located one mile east of the eastern-most North Star building. Magnetic rail lines connect the five main islands. All the rail lines connect to the smallest island of the chain, which holds the city's spaceport. On the windward side of Kona Island there is a hidden Wolverine command base. The main body of the coral reef found along the coastline guards its seaward approach. The seasonal weather patterns make hurricanes a strong possibility during a two-month season, although it has yet to experience one. Most of Kona is already crowded with buildings and cannot create the room necessary to accommodate a large enough capitol city. The sun rises in front of Covenant’s harbor each day, lighting the streets and walkways with golden sunlight” - Galaxy Commander Martyr Kerensky Carn Island hosts the most important city on the planet, Shikata Ga Nai. Shikata Ga Nai was created out of the need for a suitable capitol for the planet after Lethal Claw Galaxy and Demon Knights Galaxy bid too bitterly for the honor of having it. Khan Skyecat cited each cities major weaknesses and his reasons for choosing not to pick one of them as the capitol. He first commandeered a formidable sized tropical island named Carn, which was originally apportioned to Demon Knights. The island was located almost midway between the main continents of each Galaxy, which served to better pacify the Commanders. Interestingly the island was an almost perfect symmetrical circle. Pre-planned by the Khan and saKhan themselves, the city stands as a prodigious example of Clan Wolverines power. Encompassing the entire island is the city of Shikata Ga Nai. “From the air Shikata resembles four parts of a circle coming together. In the southeast section a person would find himself lost in a world of pyramids and Aztec-style architecture. Crimson Guards Keshik claims this section of the island as its own. In the southwestern quarter of the city one would become awestruck at the towering buildings emerging from the ocean on columns of Sarian Timber, covered in works of meticulous art. This rounded out section of Shikata belongs to Lethal Claw Galaxy. To the north and east is the Storm Raven Galaxy’s territory. It can be approached only through four corridors guarded by statues of the Storm Raven bird. Inside its walled territory is an extension of its museum in Stadt der Ehre and the cities spaceport. Northwest lays Demon Knights Galaxy and its portion of the city. It hosts both Shikata’s port facilities and the Technological Center for Engineering, a prestigious technician training school. In the center of Shikata stands the largest structure on the planet, Wolverine Hall. Built like the Fortress Brian of Terra, Wolverine Hall commands the cities attention. From any point on the island a person can see the immense domed top of the hall. Formerly it held four doors, four corridors, and ten seats at a rectangular shaped meeting table. At each door stood two mechs guarding the entrance. All corridors led directly to the meeting room. Each hall represented one of the galaxies and the Keshik respectively. However, with the addition of Dark Malice Exploratory Galaxy the interior of the building was redesigned to incorporate five doors, five halls, and twelve places on a pentagon shaped meeting table in the Grand Chamber. Also four mechs now guard each of the five doors. If Wolverine Hall ever comes under attack the entire floor of the Grand Chamber would lower 10 meters into an underground BattleMech hanger. It would stop 10 meters above the ground to let each Galaxy Commander and Star Colonel enter their respective command mechs. This same BattleMech hanger holds the bulk of Crimson Guard’s Mech force to ensure the full safety of the Khan and saKhan during meetings. Even if invading forces were somehow able to penetrate into the Hall, automated defenses built into the fortress would rip them to metal scraps. I am Wraith Mandaka, Khan of Clan Wolverine. My saKhan is Justin Case Rynul. Our current state of affairs finds us involved in battles in the Mechwarrior Registry League and the Starlance Mechwarrior 4 League. There have been many battles in both leagues and we are an honorable, proud Clan. One of our greatest achievements has been to take the planet Terra (in the MechReg League) from Comstar. However, the greatest of all achievements (As I see it) is our brotherhood. I have not seen a unit yet that has the longevity of our clan. There are so many vets in this unit, I find it incredible that they have stayed in one place for such a long time. That is what makes this unit so special. Although we win our fair share of battles, winning is 2nd to friendship and honor. This section will be expanded on when time permits. As we continue on in the leagues, I hope our warriors will write of their exploits to be included in the history of this glorious clan. Good luck and good hunting to you all. - Wraith |
