Rank Description: The following rank structure will be used for Clan Wolverine. These ranks may not be the same as Leagues demand for their rank structures, but they will be followed by all members of the Clan. The chain of command will be followed in all methods of communication. Should an officer, up to and including the saKhan and Khan, need a vacation for whatever reason they are required to communicate such an event to their direct report. In the case of the higher command like the Khan and saKhan the Galaxy Commanders need to be empowered with the abilities needed to keep the Clan running smoothly. This does not necessarily mean that the Galaxy Commanders will have all of the power, but they will be informed of the proper action to take in all conceivable situations. All duties are subject to change as new responsibilities become evident so check back here often. Officers within the Galaxy are subject to have more duties added to their list by the Galaxy Commander, but never any less. Clan Wolverine's Touman consists of two Galaxies.

   Khan:   The leader of the Clan. Reporting only to the ilKhan when Clan Wolverine is a part of the Coalition and is part of the Grand Council. The Khan has wide ranging powers, everything from making clan laws to overseeing relationships with other Clans. his word is final so long as it is within the Clan Law (Judgment to be passed by the Loremaster in the case of discrepancy or concern). It is his/her duty to maintain the website or delegate maintenance, negotiate treaties and contracts, decide upon advancements in territory, and generally maintain order within the Wolverine ranks. He/she is the first ambassador for the clan and the ultimate example of conduct. He/she is the person who can approve promotions and demotions within the clan's Command Staff, and is the administrator of discipline. Every medal and award granted has to be approved by the Khan. Specific Duties are:
  • Be an example of the Clan Honor Code, Values, and Culture.
  • Maintain the Clan's path, forward motion, and integrity.
  • Evaluate subordinates for awards/demerits, issue demerits and submit awards listing for approval by the (This includes the Crimson Guard, Galaxy Commanders, Oathmaster, and Loremaster).
  • Attend all clan functions, meetings, and war councils.
  • Serve as a member of the Clan command staff.
  • Serve as the direct leader of the Crimson Guard.
  • Conduct all war council meetings for the Clan.
  • Approve/establish a standardized criteria for awards and other Clan-related circumstances.
  • Monitor the chain of command and enforce its use.
  • The Khan can approve/disapprove of any Trials should he/she feel it necessary (subject to a ruling by the Loremaster and the War Council).
  • the Khan can approve/disapprove of any promotions should he/she feel it necessary (subject to a ruling by the Loremaster and the War Council).
  • Approve/Disapprove any and all challenges for the ranks of Galaxy Commander and above. This includes the Nova ranks, the rank of Loremaster, saKhan, and Oathmaster.
  • Deal with all issues relating to the Clan as he/she sees fit within the rules of the Clan (Subject to a ruling by the Loremaster and War Council).
  • Recruit cadets according to the recruiting guidelines detailed in the Rules and Regulations section of the site.
  • Command all Clan battles.
  • Administer appropriate disciplinary action for the saKhan, Galaxy Commanders, Loremaster, and Oathmaster who deserve such treatment.

   saKhan:   The saKhan is the Clan's Warlord. He/She will run the league battles and run this unit when the Khan is unavailable. the saKhan has the authority to take all of the duties of the Khan in his absence. He reports on the readiness of the Galaxies, having received the reports from the Galaxy Commanders. He advises the Khan in all things and is the only other member of the clan with any rights to make decisions concerning treaties and contracts, territorial advancement, and rp management. Specific Duties are:
  • Be an example of the Clan Honor Code, Values, and Culture.
  • Maintain the master Combat Readiness listing.
  • Evaluate subordinates for awards/demerits, issue demerits and submit awards listing for approval by the Khan (This includes the Crimson Guard, Galaxy Commanders, Oathmaster, and Loremaster).
  • Attend all clan functions, meetings, and war councils.
  • Serve as a member of the Clan command staff.
  • Serve as a member of the Khan's Bodyguard.
  • Conduct all war council meetings for the Clan.
  • Approve/establish a standardized criteria for awards and other Clan-related circumstances.
  • Monitor the chain of command and enforce its use.
  • The saKhan can approve/disapprove of any Trials should he/she feel it necessary (subject to a ruling by the Loremaster and the War Council).

   LoreMaster/Oathmaster:   These persons write the histories of the clan as well as maintain order and moderation of Trials. In this unit, the Loremaster/Oathmaster are essentially 3rd in command, but must remain neutral in times of political unrest. The Loremaster/Oathmaster will also be available to run any league battles as necessary. The bearers of these titles must present themselves in the manner of Clan Wolverine at all times. They can begin negotiations on treaties and contracts, but must include either the saKhan or the Khan in the process before completion. The Loremaster/Oathmaster is the person responsible for making sure that the Clan leadership follows the laws of the Clan, utilizes the proper protocol for Trials, and keeps a record of all things official for the Clan's Reed. The Loremaster is also in charge of the Training Cadre. The Loremaster is required to submit one report a week to the Khan detailing the Training Cadre's successes. Loremaster's duties follow:
  • Be an example of the Clan Honor Code, Values, and Culture.
  • Maintain the master Clan History.
  • Maintain web pages related to the Clan History and Communication such as the Clan Email List, Clan Information, etc.
  • Approve trainees for training awards and submit awards listing for approval to the Galaxy Commander.
  • Attend all clan functions, meetings, and war councils.
  • Serve as a member of the Clan command staff.
  • Serve as the mediator in all Clan Meetings.
  • Oversee/keep record of all Trials.
  • Keep record of all promotions.
  • Deal with all instances of question concerning the conduct of the Khan in an impartial manner.
  • Educate cadets according to the Training Cadre's function.
  • Assist in Training of Warriors through use of the Training Cadre's processes.
  • Compose and deliver 1 weekly report to the Khan using the Reporting Tool concerning the Training Cadre.
  • Compose and deliver a report to the Khan using the Reporting Tool whenever necessary concerning other duties.
  • Act as Clan records keeper in all situations.

   Ambassadors:   The political warriors of the clans. Masters of manipulation. Ambassadors are those people with the gift of gab. They can incite wars or quell planetary governments with either the promise of peace or the threat of war. Ambassadors may be anyone assigned by the Khan of the rank Star Colonel or higher. More often than not they are members of the Khan's Keshik of the rank Nova Colonel. Their real power lies in their ability to begin negotiations with other factions. Specific Duties are:

  • Maintain contact with allied faction point of contact.
  • Seek out new points of contact with other Factions.
  • Report on successes and failures to the Khan regularly.

   Galaxy Commander:   The Galaxy Commander in this Clan is in Charge of 2 Clusters. The breakdown follows: 40 Battlemechs, or 80 Aerospace fighters/vehicles, or 300 Elementals/300 infantry squads (1500 men). This Person has proven himself/herself to be one of great honor and his/her skills as a warrior are unquestioned. Over-seeing training schedules, delivering training reports, and reporting on the readiness of the troops to the saKhan and Khan the Galaxy Commander is the organizational backbone of Clan Wolverine. The Galaxy Commander can direct drops, assign wingmen, and suggest promotions as well as awards for his/her people. The Galaxy Commander's duties include the recruiting of troops, aiding in the military strategy, and providing functional configurations for the Clan just to name a few. Their duties are primarily Galaxy-based, but the Khan can call on them for special service at any time. While the Crimson Guard are there solely to protect the Khan the Galaxy Commander is required to follow the same standards as the Crimson Guard except they carry more duties. They are to protect the Khan, protect the Clan, and uphold Clan law unto death. All Galaxy Commanders are required to submit one report a week to the Khan detailing the condition of their Galaxy. During times of War, they are also required to submit regular reports to the saKhan detailing the combat readiness of their command. Specific Duties are:

  • Approve/Disapprove of all Galaxy-related Trials.
  • Approve/Disapprove of all Galaxy-related promotions.
  • Deal with all issues relating to the Galaxy they are in command of.
  • Recruit cadets according to the recruiting guidelines detailed in the Rules and Regulations section of the site.
  • Command all Clan battles where the saKhan or Khan are not present.

   Star Admiral:   While this position commands an equivalent size force as the Galaxy Commander, a Star Admiral still follows the direction of a Galaxy Commander. Due to the size of this unit. It is not feasible to have more than one Fleet of Naval forces. Therefore, the Star Admiral, while still lower in rank then a Galaxy Commander will report to the saKhan of the Clan. A Fleet consists of 5 Naval Stars. All "Nova" ranks report to the Star Admiral.
 
   Star/Nova Colonel:   The Star Colonel is in charge of a Cluster, which in this Clan consists of 2 binaries. This can be broken down into: 20 Battlemechs, or 40 Aerospace fighters/vehicles, or 150 Elementals/150 infantry squads (750 men). This person reports directly to the Galaxy Commander. The Nova Colonel (sometimes referred to as a Star Commodore) controls a Naval Star which is comprised of 2-5 Squadrons, is capable of acting as an ambassador if so assigned, or 5 Command Omnimechs and 25 command elementals, and serves in the Khan's Keshik or under special assignment. The Star Colonel's duties are to make sure their cluster is in top combat readiness, arrange trainings with the troops, and make suggestions for promotions within their cluster, along with making commendation recommendations. In combat situations, a Star Colonel may represent Clan Wolverine as the combat force leader against opposing forces if they have achieved the Combat Command award. They are ultimately responsible for the conduct within their cluster and may suggest disciplinary action, demotions, and banishment for anyone within their command to the Galaxy Commander. This rank and above can offer a warrior a Wolverine Cadet uniform either through direct recruitment or through the recommendations of the Star Captain. Star Colonels are ultimately responsible for the Galaxy Training Meetings held weekly by the Galaxy Commander. They are required to come up with trainings for each of these meetings that center around the values of the Clan, help their officers become better field commanders, and improve the general performance of the Galaxy members. If their are more than one Star Colonel in a Galaxy then they will rotate this responsibility coordinating their efforts and keeping the Galaxy Commander informed. If one of the Star Colonels represents the Training Cadre then that Star Colonel's trainings will take precedence. Star Colonels also hold the responsibility of being the Training Cadre's representative to the Galaxy. They follow a dotted line of reporting to the Clan Training Officer and hold the title Galaxy Training Officer when serving in that capacity. Star Colonels are required to submit one report a week to the Galaxy Commander detailing the condition of their Cluster and the Training Cadre circumstances (should they be involved in that capacity). Nova Colonels are required to submit a weekly report only if they hold a special assignment and then it is to the Khan that they report. A listing of the Star Colonel's Duties follow:

   Star/Nova Captain:   The Star Captain of this Clan is in charge of a Binary. This can be broken down as follows: 10 Battlemechs, or 20 Aerospace fighters/vehicles, or 50 Elementals/50 infantry squads (250 men). The Nova Captain is in charge 10 Omnimechs and 50 Elementals, or in the case of this unit they serve in the Khan's Keshik and function as the Khan's bodyguard. The Khan may also assign the Nova Captain to special assignments. Reporting directly to the Star Colonel, the Star Captains are responsible for supervising the activeness within their division. They may recruit for their Trinary/Binaries but may only make the recommendations for admittance to their Star Colonel after they are positive they want the recruit and must follow the recruiting process (detailed in the Join Now section of the site and the Rules and Regulations). They may act as leaders in combat situations barring the show of anyone of higher rank. The Star Captain serves his Galaxy in two specific situations besides that of the Binary command. The first is as a Technical Officer and the second is as the Intelligence Officer. Both duties are detailed as an addendum to the duties listed below. Technical Officer Addendum:
  • Create mech configurations for use with the Training Cadre, Technical Center and Galaxy routine.
  • Keep the Star Colonels and Galaxy Commander appraised to new technology available within there command. This is concerning leagues and patches for the game.
  • Work within the Training Cadre to aid in mech design strategies.

Intelligence Officer Addendum:
  • Gather intelligence on the terrain to be battled/trained within.
  • Gather intelligence on the enemy points and strength.
  • Perform counter-intelligence where needed.

   Star/Nova Commander:   The Star Commander is the commander of a Star of Mechs. This is defined as 5 Battlemechs, or 10 Aerospace fighters/vehicles, or 25 Elementals/25 infantry squads (125 men). The Nova Commander is the commander of an Omnimech Star plus an Elemental Star, or in this unit serves within the Khan's Keshik, the lowest rank allowed within such honors. The Star Commander's role is to make sure their Star is in perfect working order, to report inactivity to the Star Captain, and conduct regular drills. They may act as leaders in combat situations barring the show of anyone of higher rank and are the last in line for that honor. It is their duty to make sure the trainings offered to their Stars are taken full advantage of by their Points and Cadets, and to make suggestions for improvement in the ranks. They are the first trainers for Cadets when the Training Cadre is not present. A listing of the Star Commander's Duties follow:

A listing of the Nova Commander's Duties follow:
  • Be an example of the Clan Honor Code, Values, and Culture.
  • Protect the Khan at all costs! This includes his reputation and that of the Clan.
  • Attend all clan functions, meetings, and war councils (if blooded).
  • Attend all Keshik Meetings.
  • Up-hold standardized criteria for awards and other Galaxy-related circumstances.
  • Enforce the use of the chain of command
  • They can Participate as an witness/proxy warrior in Trials approved by the Galaxy Commander.
  • Assist in training of Warriors without impeding the Training Cadre's processes.
  • Compose and deliver 1 weekly report to the Khan when assigned to a special assignment using the Reporting Tool.
  • Activity level needs to be medium to high for this position.

   Point:   This is the basic unit of organization in the Clan. A Point is defined as follows: 1 Battlemech, or 2 Aerospace Fighters/vehicles, or 5 Elementals/5 infantry squads (25 men). A Point's duties are very defined and simple to follow. While being loyal to the Galaxy and unit to which they are assigned it is imperative that their loyalty first fall to the Clan on a whole. A listing of the Point's Duties follow:
  • Follow the Clan Honor Code, Values, and Culture.
  • Submit suggestions for awards/conduct demerits of peers as appropriate to the Star Commander.
  • Attend all clan functions, meetings, and war councils (if blooded).
  • Attend all Galaxy Training Meetings.
  • Attend all Galaxy Meetings.
  • Adhere to and use the chain of command.
  • Participate as an witness/coordinator/participant of Galaxy-related Trials approved by the Galaxy Commander.
  • Be available for all Clan battles.
  • Be available for all Galaxy battles.
  • Know Clan and league information.
  • Report to the Star Commander your status regularly (active/inactive/etc).
  • Activity level can be anything for this position.
