I. Clan Honor
Clan Honor is by and large broken down into three major categories which are explained in sections Ia. - Ic. All members of the Clan from the Khan to the Cadet are required to follow these guidelines. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from the Clan.
A. Base Clan Honor Code:
- Treat all Clan officer with the respect due their rank.
- Treat all Clan members with the respect that you, in turn, would like to be treated with.
- Present yourself to all outside of the Clan as disciplined, organized warriors.
- Never, under any circumstances, cheat.
B. Galaxy Honor Code:
- Yet to be defined.
C. Personal Honor Code:
- Each warrior must take it upon themselves to set the bar for themselves. At no time should the bar ever fall below that of the Clan Honor Code (an FFA situation is as low as that would be accepted). Never should a Galaxy warrior's bar fall below that of the Galaxy's in organized, team efforts. The way that you perform individually is up to you above and beyond that, but you are urged to set that bar and strive to attain that goal in all of your dealings. However, while wearing the uniform in open battles, no member is to EVER take part in any sort of activity that can be considered as rude or inappropriate (chat warriors, foul language, suiciding, team kills, etc.).
- This Personal Honor Code could help you attain rank, get recognized for awards, and eventually be granted the ultimate honor of attaining a Bloodname. In the case of two warriors of equal skill attempting to achieve the same position within the Clan, the officers deciding on said promotion would take into consideration the level of honor with which the warriors hold themselves and the one with the higher marks would attain the position.

II. Clan Trials
The Clans have long practiced the art of the Trial as both a judicial system and a way to advance oneself, one's Clan, and one's Galaxy. Though Clan Wolverine does not follow the Homeworld Clans, or act as a Frontline Clan, we have continued the Trial system. The Trials that the Clan practices in are listed below:
A. Trial of Entry (ToE):
- The Trial of Entry is taken after a Cadet has been a member of the Clan for one week's time minimum. Once one week has passed (during which the Star Commander over said Cadet should have been arranging training with an appropriately certified officer, helping the Cadet to understand the ways of the Clan, and basically following the directions of the Cadet Mentor within the Cadet Information Center), once the week has passed the Star Commander should have arranged time with the head Training Officer for the Cadet to perform his ToE. These usually take place Friday evenings at around 6pm PST, however if such a time is not possible then the Cadet may arrange through their Star Commander another time for the Trial to take place.
- The Trial consists of the Cadet piloting a Stock Loki, there is no other choice for the Cadet. The Cadet takes this mech against three Clansmen/women of Mechwarrior status or higher who are, in turn, placed within stock mechs of 40, 65, and 100 tons or less respectively. The tonnage assignments will be allotted by the Training Officer in charge of the ToE according to the rank of the participating pilots (ie - If the ranks are Mechwarrior, Star Commander, and Star Captain then the Mechwarrior would pilot the 40 tonner, the Star Commander would be in the 65 tonner, and the Star Captain would be in the 100 tonner. At no time is anyone other than a Mechwarrior to pilot the 40 tonner, and anyone over a Star Captain rank should not pilot the 65 tonner as this is pitting the best against a Cadet and really is not for the sake of fairness).
- These Cadet will face off with each opponent one at a time (see the provision listed as Trial FFA) beginning at a range of 750 meters on the field (map) of the Cadet's choosing. The Training Officer gives the order for the 40 tonner to engage the Cadet and the Trial begins. If the Cadet manages to destroy the 40 ton mech then the Trial will hold until the Training Officer gives the orders for the 65 tonner to engage the Cadet. This is the same for the 100 tonner. The scores for winning in said Trial follows:
o Destroy 40 tonner: Rank achieved is Mechwarrior.
o Destroy 65 tonner: Rank achieved is Star Commander.
o Destroy 100 Tonner: Rank Achieved is Star Captain.
- Rules of Zellbriggen are in place through this Trial. If Zell is broken, then all trial warriors may engage the cadet at the same time. Any kills the cadet makes will count toward his rank. Anything up to 4 kills will be counted and the cadet could earn the rank of Star Colonel.
- Trial FFA commences if at any time the Cadet fires on another mech participating within the Trial. The Cadet must first call the action as is appropriate with Zellbriggen. After which time the three opponents engage the Cadet in a FFA fashion following all other rules of Zellbriggen engagement other than the singular combat. This is a very risky endeavor for the Cadet as such a bold move usually results in complete failure of the Trial and loss of Honor. However, success has been known to occur. The success levels are listed below:
o Destroy all participants including the coordinator (meaning all four mechs in the field, that is 205 tons plus a random tonnage with the coordinator's rank): Rank achieved is Star Colonel.
- The saKhan and Khan may at any time revoke the Star Colonel or Galaxy Commander rank for reasons of either no position available, or they do not deem the warrior ready for such a command.
- If this Trial takes place for the game Mechwarrior 3 the following rules also apply:
o Mobile Field Bases = Off
o Forced First Person = On
o Unlimited Ammo = Off
- If the Cadet fails their first ToE they may attempt a second and a third ToE one week from each other. If they fail to achieve at least the rank of Mechwarrior in all three attempts they remain as a Cadet and become the sole responsibility of one Trainer for the period of one month (30 days) before they can ToE again.
B. Trial of Position (ToP)
- The Trial of Position is one of two ways to advance beyond the rank you initially achieved in your ToE (See above).
- The steps an individual would follow begin with the appropriate assignment. A Mechwarrior cannot challenge a Star Captain for their position, and no one may challenge a Galaxy Commander or higher as they are appointed positions more often than not and require a particular individual to retain such a rank. The Star Colonel position is also challengeable with the discretion of the Galaxy Commander. An individual may only challenge one rank above them and for the sake of experience may only make a challenge once every 30 days. This means that a Mechwarrior wishing to climb the ladder must spend 30 days in the position of a Star Commander learning the ropes before being able to challenge for the rank of Star Captain. All rank advancements within the Galaxy are with the approval of the Galaxy Commander.
- If the Challenger wins the ToP then the officer and the Challenger switch positions. * A proxy opponent is not effected by this rule.
- If the Challenger fails in their ToP they are reduced one rank below that which they held when they made the Challenge. An example would be if a Star Commander challenged the Star Captain and lost the Star Commander would be reduced in rank to a Mechwarrior. This will leave the Challenger's position open and available to fill. The individual who lost the Challenge must wait 30 days before being able to make his/her own Challenge.
- Nova Colonel and above may NOT be challenged in this fashion as their Trials are different than the ToP.
- In the case of a standard Trial two officers of higher rank must witness the trial.
- If the position is open when the individual makes their bid for the rank then the Galaxy Commander has the choice of assigning a proxy opponent of the approximate rank skill, or allowing the individual to move into the position without combat (Galaxy Commanders may appoint individuals to positions as well as demote so long as they have ample reason and proof that the individual is worthy of the position).* If a Trial is fought with a proxy opponent and the challenger loses the challenger is not reduced in rank and is only effected by the thirty day waiting period before they can attempt a ToP again.
C. Trial of Grievance (ToG)
- More to come.
D. Trial of Refusal (ToF)
- More to come.
E. Trial of Bloodname (ToB)
- More to come.

III. Practical Clan Responsibilities
All Clan members are required to participate in the Clan on an active level as much as possible. The Clan realizes that real life takes precedence and has taken measures to insure our membership that the Clan does have the best interest of its members in mind. However, in return for all of the work (and believe us when we say that it is work) that your Clan leaders do, we expect a little something from the Warriors and Officers.
A. Clan Meetings
- The Clan holds meetings that are designed to bring members of the Clan in the loop on things pertaining to the movements and events within the Clan. As with any large organization (even more so due to the very nature of our communication) it is difficult to maintain control of a meeting without the cooperation of the membership. As such the Clan's command has stated that all attending membership must obey the rules of a Formal meeting as soon as such a meeting is established. This order effects everyone except the coordinator and host as they are there to make sure that the meeting runs smoothly and the issues are touched upon. As covered in the Cadet Info Section of the Site the Formal meeting chat commands follow:
o ! = Individual wishes to speak (must wait to be recognized by the meeting chairperson).
o ? = Individual wishes to voice a question (must be recognized by the meeting chairperson).
o * = Individual is finished speaking. This denotes to the meeting chairperson that the next speaker may be issued the floor.
- If at anytime an individual breaks from the formal format of the meeting the meeting host will boot that individual from the meeting in order to maintain order.
- If you see a Clansman who is currently not included in the meeting online and wish to have that individual invited to the meeting send an instant message to your superior officer requesting such and he/she will pass the request up through the chain of command. This process eliminates the massive onslaught of messages bombarding the host to those of the highest ranking officers present.
- All Clansmen/women are required to attend the Clanwide Meeting or provide an excuse to their superior officer 24 hours before the meeting time, unless the absence is brought on by extreme emergency.
- Failure to notify your superior officer of your absence will result in a demerit marked in your codex. Three such demerits are grounds for demotion leading up to and including dismissal from the Clan.
- Clanwide meetings will be announced with plenty of time to prepare for attendance, or let your superior officer know of you pending absence. The date and time of Clanwide Meetings will be posted on the Clan Calendar for all to see as well as being announced in Galaxy Meetings.
B. War Council Meetings
- The War Council consists of all of the Blooded Warriors within the Clan. Blooded Warriors are those in the Clan who have been recognized for their service and skill and granted a Bloodname from the Bloodname Catalog listing in the Clan Library. War Council Meetings are held once a week to discuss events of extreme importance to the Clan.
- Only Blooded Warriors may speak within the War Council Meeting although any within the Clan may be present to witness the proceedings.
- All War Council Meetings are held in the Formal meeting format and any breaking of such format by a Blooded Warrior will result in a loss of honor eventually even leading to the possibility of losing the right to bear a Bloodname.
- Any speaking by a non-Blooded Warrior will result in a warning. Continued disruption will result in their immediate expulsion and a demerit.
- All War Council Meetings are posted on the Clan Calendar giving enough time and notice for all Blooded Warriors to arrange to either attend or get a message to their superior officer as to why they cannot attend. Any Blooded Warrior who fails to attend and does not inform their superior officer of their absence could lose their Bloodname.
C. Galaxy Meetings
- Every Galaxy Commander is required to hold a weekly Galaxy Meeting. They are advised to choose a set day and time and make this schedule known to all in the Clan through a corresponding schedule on the Clan Calendar.
- This meeting is used for the purpose of discussing inner-Galaxy topics such as rank promotion, disciplinary decisions, and individual recognition. All such events ought to be detailed by the Galaxy Commander.
- After the meeting is training time for the Galaxy. This training is to be developed by the Star Colonels in shared fashion or through alternating meetings. A Star Colonel may have a guest instructor if the guest applies to the training being worked on.
- If a person of any rank within the Galaxy is not going to be able to make the meeting for one reason or another they are to give their superior officer 24 hour notice, or if that is not possible due to emergencies they have 24 hours after the meeting to speak with their officer and get cleared. Three such failures could result in expulsion from the Clan.
D. Practice Sessions
- Practice Sessions are the responsibility of the Galaxy Training Officer. The Training Cadre, while split among the Galaxies, has a secondary report to that of their superior officer and that is the Clan Training Officer. The Clan Training Officer establishes two days a week for Clan-wide training. He is responsible for making sure that a Galaxy Training Officer is present during both times in order to facilitate proper training.
- These trainings are not mandatory but they are suggested courses. An officer may demand that an individual attend a certain amount of Practice Sessions as they deem appropriate considering particular skill needs, but the Clan Training Officer is to be informed when an individual is under such orders so that they can help with that individual's specific needs.

IV. Invasions and Skirmishes
The Clan will periodically launch in Invasions, have to participate in defending our "property" from invaders, or order raids (specific to the Dark Malice Galaxy). The specifics behind each event will be determined by the league in which such an action takes place. All Wolverines will conduct themselves in the manner of the Code of Honor appropriate to the type of battle without exception or disciplinary action will be taken. Examples are listed below:
A. Invasions
- This is an event that takes place in a planetary league. In this situation the Khan or saKhan will launch x number of dropships containing x tonnage on a planet sector. In the Clan Meeting the battle coordinator will be decided upon. A number of factors will go into this honor. The first is to determine whether a particular Galaxy will get the honor of leading the assault. This is decided through bids and/or combat action between the Galaxy Commanders and whether or not the Galaxy Commander is present in the meeting. A Galaxy must be represented by the Galaxy Commander or a Star Colonel who has been given permission to act as proxy in order to be considered for this honor. The second will be if there was not time to conduct such an event in a meeting before the battle is held then the ranking officer (must be at least the rank of a Star Colonel) present at the time of the battle will commence with operations as the Battle Coordinator.
- All warriors present will participate in at least one drop before any of them get to drop again. This will be a complete rotation excluding the Battle Coordinator unless there is a temporary replacement for the coordinator while he/she drops.
- At the end of the battle the Battle Coordinator will compile a report and deliver the report to the Khan and saKhan, and his/her Galaxy Commander should they not be of that rank.
- Only those officers assigned to the Galaxy (meaning Star Colonel and higher) may be Battle Coordinator. This means that all who bear the rank of Nova are to participate in the battle if present.
- All warriors will act with the bare minimum of their Galaxy Honor Code in these events.
C. Skirmishes
- Skirmishes are any battle that is not associated with a planet. Skirmishes include Solaris, Dualaris, Trilaris, and above. They are used in ladder leagues for the purpose of a Mechwarrior's status and the Clan's improved appearance.
- The ranking officer present will direct all Skirmishes numbering above the one vs. one compliment without interruption from the others present. The others will obey the ranking officer's decision and perform to the best of their ability despite personal opinion of how the bid turned out.
- The ranking officer will send a report of the skirmish to his superior officer who will send it up the chain of command until it reaches the Khan and saKhan. This way all officers will be aware of activity and what happened in the skirmish for future reference.
- All warriors will abide by the bare minimum of the Clan Honor Code in these events.

V. Activity Levels
All Clan members are required to be active within the Clan or at the very least communicative. This does not mean being online every night of the week and dropping in five registered Solaris's through out the week. What this does mean is that you will be required to communicate with your superior officer about scheduled meetings, try and be online at least once a week for a couple of hours where your time is dedicated to the Clan and participate in message board chats, and email conversations with your Galaxy, other Clansmen/women, and most certainly your leadership. Failure to do so will result in a demerit of conduct.

VI. Clan Disciplinary System
Like any well-organized unit the Clan has a disciplinary system that is designed to help Clansmen/women uphold Clan ideals. It is as follows:
- Any infraction against the Honor Code will result in a demerit of conduct. Three such demerits of conduct will result in a demotion to the rank level one step lower than the offender's current rank. If this penalty is placed on a person of the Cadet status then the individual will be expelled from the Clan. When an individual is reduced in rank according to this measure they are required to follow the normal ToP procedures in order to rise in rank again. A demerit of conduct will remain in a warrior's codex for the period of three months, after which time it will be removed.
- Any act of insubordination will result in a demerit of discipline. Three such demerits of discipline will result in reducing the individual to the rank of Mechwarrior, or if the individual is already a Mechwarrior it will result in expulsion from the Clan. An individual who is affected by this demerit will have to follow the standard ToP process to regain position. A demerit of discipline will remain in a Warrior's codex for the period of three months after which time it will be removed.
- All demerits will be issued by the individual's superior officer. If another individual witnesses an action that is indicative of demerit behavior they may report this incident to their superior officer who's duty it would be to then report it to their superior until it reached the Galaxy Commander level. At this level it is the Galaxy Commander's responsibility to get such information to the offending individual's Galaxy Commander so discipline may be administered. If the offender is a Galaxy Commander then the report would go directly to the saKhan. Any and all misconduct and discipline-based demerits created by the Khan and/or saKhan will be dealt with by a council of Galaxy Commanders and would more than likely result in a Trial witnessed and regulated by the Loremaster.

VII. Clan Awards, Medals, and Recognition
On the flip side of the disciplinary action are the rewards for individuals who perform well in the service of the Clan. The actual awards are described on the Awards Page in this section of the Clan site. The administering of the recognition is simple.
- Each award has the process an individual may be nominated or selected for said award within its description. This process must be followed in order to maintain the integrity of the system.
- All presentation of awards should be done at the Galaxy Meetings so that all members of the Galaxy may participate and share in the accomplishment of the person achieving the award.
- Some awards must be obtained in order. Meaning, certain awards must be achieved before another type of award can be received. This is a process that leads to the acquisition and honor pertaining to the Bloodname, the ultimate honor within the Clan.
- Before a warrior can participate in a Bloodname Trial they must have achieved the Meritous Combat, the Medal of Honor, The Battle Titan, and the Wolverine Excellence Award before they may participate in the Bloodname Trial.
- Awards and such accomplishments will be considered when ToP's are requested, deciding factors in promotions, and favoritism concerning honorable events. It is in the best interest of the warrior to attempt to achieve as many of these awards as possible.
- Once an award is given the individual's superior officer is to send a message to Galaxy Operations Officer Olfar Snow and inform him of the individual's mark so that the Personnel File may be up-dated.

VIII. Clan Recruiting
In the past the Clan has had an open recruiting policy. At the beginning this policy proved effective allowing Clan Wolverine to grow into one of the largest Clans in the Mechwarrior Universe. However, Clan Command has come to the conclusion that despite best intentions, open recruiting does not always result in recruiting those with the same standards, values, and level of honor as we would have hoped. As such, the following recruiting policy will be followed in order to instigate a pure form of recruiting. The secondary purpose of this rule is to maintain a certain level of activity. The Demerit system will - when used properly - rid the Clan of deadwood and miscreants. When used in combination with this recruiting method Clan Wolverine will be able to maintain a high level of activity based on what we, as a Clan, value.
- Recruiting may only take place for a empty position available within a Star that is commanded by an active Star Commander. This means that if there is an empty Star within a Binary/Trinary but that Star does not have a Star Commander then no recruiting may take place to fill that Star until another Mechwarrior has ToP'd for the rank of Star Commander and the only position available is for that command.
- Clan Wolverine fills all ranks from the bottom up. This is the reverse of certain leagues, but it is in order to facilitate a proper understanding of Clan Wolverine's values and honor system.
- Only the commanding officers of the Star that has the empty position may do the active recruiting. This means the Star Commander, Star Captain, Star Colonel, Galaxy Commander, saKhan, and Khan.
- If a person requests to join who was not part of a recruiting effort then the Khan decides on that person's fullfillment in assignment.
- When a new recruit is given the WV Cadet Uniform their name is submitted by their Star Commander up the Chain of Command to the Galaxy Training Officer for Cadet Training Programs.
- No individual will ever be granted any rank higher than Cadet without the express approval of the appropriate channels (The Training Cadre, Galaxy Commander, saKhan and Khan) upon being recruited. Such promises will immediately be revoked and the individual responsible for the promise will be disciplined.
- At any time a Galaxy Commander, the saKhan or the Khan can impose a Recruiting Freeze upon their respective command.
